The freshly launched „Kaunas – European Capital of Culture 2022” project Fluxus Labs invites to its the first meetings. During the project up until 2022, Kaunas city and district’s libraries, cultural centres, cafes, private garages, deserted school buildings will become creative laboratories.
What are Fluxus Labs?
These will be the labs of ideas where we will learn how to creatively solve the issues in our surroundings. In each community, we will seek to initiate unique and other creative community practices such as horticulture, the building of children’s playground, wall drawing on an apartment house, or opening of a bakery.
Where will they run?
Various Kaunas city and district locations will host around 40 creative labs. These spots can open up in libraries, cultural centres, empty school buildings, private garages, industrial spaces, cafes, or other public spaces.
How can I join?
Fluxus Labs will also be used to involve the population in the creation of Kaunas myth. At least one cultural agent of „The Tempo Academy of Culture” will work in each Lab and seek to involve the local community in the activities of the project. These agents will conduct research on community-based activities and bodies active in eldership’s territory, and cooperate with activists or experts who act in the vicinity. During the first meetings of Fluxus Labs that will be held in Kaunas Artists’ House you will learn about participation opportunities in the Labs:
• May 10th, 6:00 p.m.
• May 15th, 1:00 p.m.
• May 17th, 6:00 p.m.
