„Two decades of being the capital of independent Lithuania have changed Kaunas beyond recognition, however, left a tearful sense of temporary, nostalgia about the times that will never return.
The status of European Capital of Culture, that we will seek in 2022, is the beginning of time, that never ends. Starting from then we will count the years of the new Kaunas era, years of the young and modern city, that is free from complexes. Kaunas forever.” – Audra Kaušpėdienė
