Nepakartojama gamtinė aplinka Kauno, įsikūrusio dviejų didžiausių Lietuvos upių santakoje, gyventojus amžiais įkvėpė mintims ir darbams ne tik apie duoną kasdieninę, bet ir skatino jų vaizduotę, vystė kūrybiškumą. Tarsi trokšdami praplėsti regimojo pasaulio ribas ir išsiveržti už savojo slėnio ribų, miestiečiai statė bažnyčias iš toli matomais bokštais, savo namais kopė upių šlaitais, o pats miestas, tapdamas Hanzos miestu, atsivėrė europinei kultūrai. The unique natural environment of Kaunas, located in the confluence of the two largest rivers of Lithuania, has always inspired its residents to think and work for more than just their daily bread, encouraging their imagination and developing their creativity. As if longing to expand the boundaries of the visible world and burst beyond their native valley, its townspeople used to build churches with towers visible from far away and houses up and down the riversides, and the city opened itself for European culture by becoming one of the Hansa cities.
