The legend of Noreikiškės Stone

Once upon a time, there lived two witches in Noreikiškės. They had a pile of stones, which they used to build a stove and a chair. Once, the witches got into a row so fierce that one of them decided to leave and go her separate way. The stones had to be split between them, too. The witch who decided to leave wished to take her two stones to the other side of Juodis Lake. She managed to carry one over but the other one fell into the lake and sank. To this day travellers and fishermen often stumble over it. Meanwhile, the other stone lies peacefully on the lakeshore. People call it the Witch’s Chair.
