Neil Peterson (Liverpool, United Kingdom) is the director of Inside Track, an organisation working throughout Europe. Inside Track focuses on developing practical projects, which involve citizens in cultural and sporting events.
Neil has previously held a range of senior national and regional roles in the UK with a particular emphasis on training, employment and community development. He was the Northern Regional Director for the Charity Commission and also led some of the UK’s most innovative work in helping disadvantaged people into work (2002-2004). Neil has also coordinated several successful international exchange projects, especially for young people.
In Europe, Neil is best known for his work in Liverpool – European Capital of Culture 2008, where he was the head of international work and the Welcome and Volunteer programmes. These were seen as some of the most successful customer service and community engagement programmes in ECoC projects over the last ten years. He now works as a strategic adviser to a number of ECoCs and to candidate cities, including Kaunas 2022.
His special experience is in promoting the role of culture and sport in enabling cities to take a more strategic approach to participation and community capacity building.
