ABOUT THE PRESENTATION

“The audience as co-producer in Leeuwarden-Friesland 2018”

Watch the presentation

With 60 main events focusing on audience participation and over 400 cultural initiatives produced by the community itself, Leeuwarden-Friesland 2018 paved the way for a new type of European Capital of Culture that put the collaboration between the cultural producer and the audience in the foreground. In his presentation, Jelle Burggraaff focuses on the key factors behind the very strong involvement of the citizens in this project. He explains how throughout the entire region, cultural producers have worked together with communities and how communities have been supported to produce events themselves as well. The presentation offers fresh insights and examples of how to involve audiences as a creator in the process of composing a cultural programme.
