The upcoming festival \u201cJapan Days in Kaunas WA\u201d in 2023 shall continue the tradition of \u201cKaunas \u2013 European Capital of Culture 2022\u201d events by inviting you to experience the synergy of contemporary and traditional Japanese culture. More than 30 Japanese artists and performers will unveil the spirit of the country of the Rising Sun through digital art, modern dance, music, photography, calligraphy and other forms of art.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Among the most anticipated events is the lights architecture and dance performance \u201cIntensional Particle\u201d<\/strong> by one of the leading figures of the Japanese avant-garde art scene Hiroaki Umeda<\/strong>. Audiovisual artist Tatsuru Arai<\/strong> will present a digital art and dance performance created in collaboration with Kaunas Dance Theater \u201cAura\u201d<\/strong>. Admirers of Japanese traditional art will have an opportunity to see Gifu Nakatsugawa City ji-kabuki<\/strong> performances and enjoy the calligraphy of Tosen Iwasaki<\/strong> expressing the magic of nature and the beautiful dance of Ayano Honda<\/strong>. Famous Japanese photographer Hiroshi Seo<\/strong> will unveil the essence of the more than 1200 years old oiemoto tradition of mastering various Japanese artistic creations. Festival will be filled by beautiful music by Tsugaru shamisen musician Hibiki<\/strong> Ichikawa<\/strong>, singer Utako Toyama<\/strong>, a joint concert of Yonago city youth choir \u201cLittle Phoenix\u201d<\/strong> and Ka\u010danauskas music school children choir \u201cPerpetuum Mobile\u201d<\/strong> as well as other performances. In Japanese culture, modesty and protecting other people’s feelings is the highest value, instilled from an early age, but how much unspilled emotion is buried inside to protect others? How do we experience anger in society? Can we capture a phenomenon that is happening in our bodies that is difficult to recognise?<\/span><\/p>\n
