\u201cKaunas – European Capital of Culture 2022\u201d invites you to take part in the European Culture Fair, which will take place on the 20\u201322 <\/span><\/span>nd<\/span><\/span><\/sup> of May, during one of the major events – SANTAKA (The Confluence). <\/span>The fair will occur nearby the Kaunas Castle, in the Old Town, and will invite visitors to discover the cultural traditions and artistic trends, crafts, food culture, fashion, etc. <\/span>of different European cities.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We invite craftsmen, artists, folk artists, and other creators from your city to bring and sell their products at the European Culture Fair. <\/span>Participants from the European countries can attend free of charge. <\/span>\u201cKaunas 2022\u201d will provide a tent (9 m <\/span><\/span>2<\/span><\/span><\/sup> (3×3) \/ 16 m <\/span><\/span>2<\/span><\/span><\/sup> (4×4)), tables, chairs, electricity and water supply on request. <\/span>\u201cKaunas 2022\u201d will not cover the costs of accommodation, travel, and meals.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

SANTAKA is the second major event of the Contemporary Myth of Kaunas Trilogy. <\/span>We invite you to one of Lithuania’s most impressive cities to encounter the contradictions lying within all of us and to celebrate unity together. <\/span>The water show, massive in scale and unique in content, will surprise everyone, we promise that!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The date of this event was chosen not accidentally: Kaunas City celebrates its birthday annually in late May. <\/span>At the same time, Kaunas District will hold one of its most memorable celebrations, the international kite festival \u201cBetween the Earth and the Sky\u201d. <\/span>Thus, the entire weekend will be dedicated to all of these events. <\/span>The title SANTAKA symbolizes the sense of community shared between the people of Kaunas and the Kaunas District and the region’s ties with other European cities. <\/span>We hope that the weekend’s celebrations will inspire us all to reconnect with the waters around Kaunas and fulfill the city’s dream to reunite with its rivers!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The entire weekend will feature shows by acrobats, contemporary circus performances, river excursions, and musical tours to river towns and settlements in Kaunas. <\/span>The public will be invited to the unveiling of the \u201cNemuno7\u201d, an environmental design project that is unique in the European context. <\/span>If the pandemic situation permits, we hope to welcome guests from the other two European Capitals of Culture – Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxembourg) and Novi Sad (Serbia), and also from Alytus town, which enjoys the title of Lithuania’s Capital of Culture in 2022.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
