Antanas Jasenka is a famous composer both in the contemporary music composers’ academic community and in the experimental music scene. A. Jasenka began his artistic career by writing concert pieces for acoustic instruments.
Music works written by Jasenka are played in Lithuanian and international contemporary music festivals. The composer is also involved in various publishing and multimedia projects abroad with such famous artists as Ralf Wehowsky, The Hafler Trio, Artemiy Artemiev, and with Lithuanian artists: Oskaras Koršunovas, Birutė Letukaitė, Yana Ross, Marus Jacovskis, Giedrė Brazytė, Džiugas Katinas and others.
His works are published by publishing companies in Russia, the USA, the Netherlands, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, England, France, Poland and Lithuania. Since 2008, he has been a member of the electronic music band, “Diissc Orchestra”. During 2010-2015, he was the art director of the largest Baltic country electronic music festival, “Young Music”.
The works of this composer have received a lot of awards both in Lithuania and abroad. In 1994, a work of the composer called “Āryas” received the “Tyla” award. In 1995, he received a Musical Foundation Prize for his work “Ancient Songs”. In 1998, he received a prize at a contest for new works organized by the Schubert Society. In 2002, the composer won a prize for the best electro-acoustic work (“Deusexmachina”) at the competition for the best works of the year organized by the Lithuanian Composers’ Union. Antanas Jasenka was awarded a “Golden scene cross” in 2010 and in 2012, and received “Fortūna” statuettes for opera and theatre music in 2015 and 2016. Among other famous Polish artists, such as director Krystian Lupa, playwright Marta Gusniowska, actress Dorota Segda and more, Antanas Jasenka was named the best composer of 2015.
There is a great demand for his electronic and electro-acoustic music both in the Lithuanian scene and abroad. The composer is also interested in collective work platforms, interdisciplinary collaboration with other audio artists, visual artists and writers.
